Tasks and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
1) Own the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and plan stability
- Build, publish, and maintain a rolling MPS (with longer-range outlook as required), including a frozen / slushy / liquid horizon to balance stability and responsiveness.
- Create weekly (and as-needed) MPS updates that reflect true constraints and priorities; protect stability while managing controlled changes.
- Drive MPS governance: clear rules for order release timing, schedule changes, and escalation paths.
2) Capacity-feasible planning
- Translate demand into a schedule that is capacity-feasible across critical work centers and bottleneck resources (fabrication, assembly, paint, kitting, packaging, etc.).
- Partner with Operations to validate routings, standard times, and capacity assumptions; proactively surface overloads and recovery options.
- Use capacity evaluation and leveling practices/tools to avoid overload and improve resource utilization (SAP highlights that manufacturing planning can create capacity requirements that must be evaluated/leveled to prevent overload).
3) Materials + execution alignment (end-to-end)
- Ensure Materials Planning and Purchasing are working from a current, credible MPS so supply plans and staffing plans are synchronized with what will actually be built/shipped.
- Partner daily/weekly with Production, Kitting, Receiving, Warehouse, and Quality to manage constraints, shortages, and execution readiness.
- Lead cross-functional “schedule alignment” cadence to confirm what ships, what builds, what kits, and why.
4) Priority management and scenario planning
- Translate business priorities into an executable “must-build / must-ship” plan; recommend trade-offs when capacity or supply is constrained.
- Run scenarios (expedite vs. re-sequence vs. split builds vs. alternate sourcing) and present recommendations with facts, risk, and cost/benefit.
5) Data integrity and planning system excellence
- Maintain planning master data quality critical to MPS performance: lead times, calendars, work centers, scheduling parameters, and order policies.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP planning (SAP preferred) and the discipline to drive clean inputs/outputs.
6) Performance management (KPIs) and continuous improvement
- Track and improve schedule performance through KPI dashboards and structured problem solving. Common MPS expectations include monitoring schedule adherence, auditing compliance, and driving corrective actions.
- Lead root-cause work on misses (late releases, shortages, rework, capacity constraints, data issues) and implement preventive actions.
Deliverables You’ll Own
- Weekly/Monthly published MPS + exception list (constraints, shortages, risks)
- Bottleneck capacity outlook + recovery actions
- Order release plan (what gets released, when, and why)
- Clear priorities translated into shop-ready execution (build/kit/ship)
- KPI dashboard: schedule adherence, plan stability, OTIF/ship attainment, expedite drivers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years in master scheduling / production planning / supply planning in discrete manufacturing or complex assembly environments.
- Strong ERP experience (SAP PP/MM preferred) and advanced Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute in a constraint-based environment (capacity + materials + priorities).
- Proven cross-functional leadership
- English proficiency (written and verbal) for a global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS/ASCM certification progress or completed.
- Experience in engineered-to-order manufacturing, project-based fulfillment, or high-mix/low-volume environments.
- Strong change management and process improvement track record (planning governance, master-data discipline, scheduling cadence).
Success Metrics
- Improved schedule adherence and reduced last-minute reschedules
- Higher OTIF / ship attainment against committed dates
- Increased plan stability inside the frozen horizon
- Fewer expedites driven by planning/data issues (not true surprises)
Clear, repeatable prioritization and faster cross-functional decisions
