Position Summary

The Maintenance Leader is responsible for leading all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise in PLC systems, tube cutting equipment, hydraulic systems, and both Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, combined with a coaching leadership style, strong sense of urgency, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Lead and execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and PLC-related issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of tube cutting equipment, CNC machinery, and automated systems.
  • Develop and continuously improve maintenance standards, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability while controlling costs.

Controls & Automation

  • Provide advanced technical support for PLC systems (programming, troubleshooting, and optimization).
  • Work with engineering and production teams to improve automation, cycle times, and equipment performance.
  • Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, and new equipment installations.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and specialists.
  • Promote a coaching mentality, encouraging problem-solving, technical growth, and accountability.
  • Foster strong teamwork and collaboration with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.
  • Set clear expectations and respond with urgency to equipment breakdowns and operational issues.

Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure full compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, and downtime reduction.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support lean manufacturing and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance leadership roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • PLC systems (troubleshooting and programming)
    • Tube cutting equipment
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
  • Proven experience managing maintenance teams in high-volume or automated manufacturing operations.
  • Fully bilingual (English & Spanish) – written and verbal.
