Amazon Principal Engineering (APET) Team Member – Mechanical Engineer


A dynamic, fast paced, program guiding role focused on Mechatronic Engineering for the Amazon Account, with a Mechanical Engineering background. The Amazon Principal Engineering Team (APET) is charged with ensuring development of tools and processes to drive excellence in execution for the Amazon Project Teams both in quality and efficiency. The candidate for this role will act as a trusted advisor to our external Customers at Amazon and our internal execution team partners (engineering, installation, and management). This position will require real time collaboration with the Performance Excellence team, R&D, Customer Service and our Global Engineering partners.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $100,500 - 147,400 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What We Are Looking For:

  • Drive process, product, tool and solution innovation in the Amazon program.

  • Engage with holistic initiatives, research and development of new ideas.

  • Proactively create/conceptualize/identify improvements.

  • Identify program risks and develop mitigation plans.

  • Mentor/engage with others to create program wide lean and continuously improvement culture.

  • Keep standard documents updated and easily accessible.

  • Collaborate with the Performance Excellence team, to ensure the Amazon program is aligning with Global Dematic Standards wherever possible.

  • Capture lessons learned and provide continuous communication and training opportunities to affected groups.

  • Regularly facilitate kaizen events and act as an advisor that troubleshoots and resolves extremely complex problems within multi-departments across regions and/or cross-functional areas.

  • Direct process measurement, program scorecards and other metrics, which can also be used to drive process improvements in the end-to-end project lifecycle.

  • Support sales level concept and Solution Development technical reviews. Helping drive consistent solutions and proven designs.

  • Support project level technical reviews, including the review of drawings, maintenance access, and rates, to name a few.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • 8+ years of mechanical application engineering experience.
