Required Technical and Professional Experience

It is expected that the role holder will most likely have the following qualifications and experience

  • 4+ years of AWS experience

  • 7+ years in application development and support

  • Strong Experience in Scripting, Linux and CI/CD preferably Jenkins

  • Strong programming skills with Python and groovy

  • Infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Github and Ansible

  • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to assess and implement new technologies and processes.

  • An open mindset and proven ability to innovate and influence.

Essential capabilities

  • Solid AWS services experience (EC2, VPC, EBs, ASG, S3, Cloudwatch, Load Balancer, Lambda)

  • Experience with Infrastructure As Code development (IAC)

  • Container & Container Orchestration tools (Docker, AWS ECS, Kubernetes)

  • Technical knowledge in automated delivery products / technology /tools

  • Continuous development and testing techniques along with documentation

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain different AWS services

  • Establish AWS infrastructure design patterns

  • Develop solutions and specifications so that agreed requirements can be converted into functional systems

  • Work across the full spectrum of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Actively contribute to planning sessions and other Agile ceremonies across the team

  • Collaborate with team members and project stakeholders to ensure success of deliverables

  • Manage in-life pattern patching and defect resolution

  • Support: Make initial diagnosis of problems, for a system or sub-system or apply known solutions, including documenting problems, progress checking, and escalation to ensure resolution.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Tertiary qualification in technology related degree
