What You Will Do
Brand Context & Position Summary As the flagship brand of L'Oréal's Luxe Division, represents the pinnacle of luxury, innovation, and consumer experience. The Director, Finance — Brand A&P acts as the co-pilot and key strategic business partner to the Luxe Head of Finance and Head of Marketing, Brand General Manager, and Business Unit Leaders.
In this role, you will lead the financial strategy, budget allocation, ROI optimization, and governance of extensive and highly dynamic Advertising & Promotional (A&P) portfolio. You will ensure that every dollar invested—from digital media and influencer advocacy to point-of-sale merchandising and beauty advisor animation—is optimized for premium consumer acquisition, brand equity growth, and commercial value creation.

Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Budget Construction: Lead the annual budgeting process and subsequent revision cycles (Trends/Forecasts) for all A&P lines (including Media, Digital, Advocacy, Merchandising, and Promotional offers).
- Resource Allocation: Partner with brand leaders to translate marketing ambitions into structured financial plans, ensuring resources are allocated to the highest-growth drivers.
- Phasing & Accuracy: Manage the monthly and quarterly phasing of A&P investments to align with product launch calendars and overall business seasonality.
- Business Co-Piloting & ROI Optimization
- Strategic Marketing Partnership: Serve as the key financial co-pilot to the Marketing, Digital, and Media teams, challenging assumption models and translating marketing KPIs into financial outcomes.
- Investment Effectiveness (ROI): Establish frameworks to measure the return on investment (ROI) of marketing campaigns. Analyze the effectiveness of different touchpoints (e.g., traditional media, paid search, social commerce, influencer partnerships, and in-store merchandising).
- Post-Mortem Analysis: Conduct regular performance reviews of major launches and promotional activations, sharing actionable financial insights to optimize future campaign designs and media mix models.
- Month-End Closing, Financial Control & Compliance
- Closing Accuracy: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes for A&P, ensuring accurate accruals, cut-offs, and alignment with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/Group guidelines).
- Commitment Tracking: Monitor the end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, tracking purchase orders (POs), pending commitments, and actual expenditures against the authorized budget to avoid overspends.
- Internal Control & Governance: Ensure strict compliance with internal control policies, procurement guidelines, and contract approval flows for all third-party marketing vendors, creative agencies, and media buying partners.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Agency & Procurement Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Procurement department and external media/creative agencies to review contract terms, fee structures, and ensure transparency in media buying and production costs.
- Shared Best Practices: Partner with corporate finance, digital IT, and central media teams to share best practices, standardize tools, and align on measurement methodologies.
- Financial Reporting, Systems & Process Optimization
- Dashboarding & Reporting: Design, maintain, and distribute clear, actionable A&P dashboards and reports for brand management and senior finance leadership.
- Process Transformation: Continuously seek opportunities to simplify, automate, or digitize financial processes (such as PO creation, accrual estimations, or budget tracking tools) to improve speed and transparency.
- Data Integrity: Ensure the consistency and accuracy of marketing investment data across various reporting tools, ERPs, and media tracking databases.
What We Are Looking For:
- 8-10 years of experience in finance or accounting required.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, or other similar disciplines.
- Advanced level of experience influencing senior leaders.
- Controlling background/ experience
- Business planning, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, delegation, and team management
- Analytical capacity and ability to perform analyses regarding monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
- Project management experience
- Strategic with multiple cross functional business partners
- Good communication skills (verbal / written) & interpersonal skills to develop network with Countries (internal clients)
- Ability to build financial models
- Ability to collaborate, strong emphasis on teamwork, internal customer focused attitude
