At L'Oréal, Data Driven Experience (DDX) represents an evolution of traditional CRM. It is the strategic discipline of providing every consumer with the best possible personalized experience across all touchpoints, powered by a robust data foundation.
As the DDX Director, you will be part of the Japan CDO (Chief Digital Officer) organization—a key corporate function responsible for leading the group’s digital transformation. In this role, your mission is to drive the full strategic frame & vision for DDX in Japan across 1P and 2P data to acquire new consumer for better penetration, loyalize consumers for higher lifetime value, improve consumer experience for fostering brand love, explore the opportunity of AI for leading the trend.
You will act as the ultimate strategic leader and "Guardian" of DDX, bridging the gap between Global/Zone strategies and Japan's market-wide execution, working in close partnership with Division DDX Leads, CDAO team, and Zone/Global teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Vision & 1P/2P Data Leadership:
- Define and drive the overarching DDX strategic frame and KPI for Japan.
- Craft the consumer acquisition strategy facilitating consume conquest taskforce
- Oversee 1P data acquisition efforts of PII + 1P cookies (qualified traffic) across all sources, ensuring quality at scale in collaboration with the cross functional teams.
- Lead the 2P strategic roadmap, partnering with commercial teams to prioritize use cases, evaluate publisher opportunities, and ensure technical readiness (e.g., cleanrooms, shared reporting).
- Drive the "DDX for Business" agenda, maximizing 1P data usage across paid media, direct, and indirect channels while connecting the dots across CDO métiers.
2. Governance & Tech Localization (Guardian of DDX):
- Contribute to the global/regional Tech roadmap and facilitate local roll-out according to Zone guidelines, working in close collaboration with digital product team, Division leads, and Zone heads (Note: co-piloting and facilitating, not driving the seat of the tech roadmap itself).
- Manage relationships with external partners and agencies to ensure model consistency and partner rationalization in sync with Zone/Global guidelines (managing RFPs and local contracts).
- Support Data Protection Officer (DPO) and CDAO team to governance the Data Privacy, consent management, and other compliance (such as opt-outs and anonymization)
3. Business Excellence & Integration ("Share & Scale"):
- Deliver high business impact by standardizing KPIs and translating complex data into actionable "growth-hacking" strategies and high-potential audience activations.
- Foster multi-disciplinary stakeholder management and cooperation across Divisions, Media, Commerce, and Global/Zone teams.
- Drive the "Share & Scale" agenda, ensuring high-performing consumer journeys and DDX best practices are consolidated and templatized for maximum operational efficiency.
4. Acculturation, Animation & Upskilling:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Center of Excellence, representing the interests of the Japan market on the Global learning agenda.
- Lead, empower, and foster the local DDX community ("Tribe") through active upskilling, knowledge exchange, and cultural transformation across the organization.
- Monitor the market trend and best practices, explore the best in class solution or high tech such as AI to optimize the efficiency of DDX operation and maintain our leadership in the market.
Requirements (Must Have Aspects)
- Experience & Education:
- 10+ years of experience in CRM, Data Marketing, Omni retail Clienteling, or MarTech, with a proven track record of leading strategic data-driven initiatives within the cosmetics, FMCG, luxury, or consumer-centric sectors.
- Proven experience in 1P/2P data acquisition strategies, data enrichment, and marketing automation (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CDP, LINE ecosystem).
- Demonstrated experience in senior stakeholder management, with the ability to influence Division Leads, Legal (DPO), CDAO, digital product and global/regional HQ teams in a complex matrix organization.
