The Purview Data Governance team’s mission is to deliver a market leading solution for enterprise data management, discovery, understanding, and access. The customer personas served by Purview Data Governance include the enterprise data office, enterprise-wide data owners and data stewards, and enterprise-wide data consumers across all organizational functions. We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join us in our mission of creating a cutting-edge cloud service and AI (Artificial Intelligence) based enterprise data governance solution and best practices for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a customer-first, live site-first, design-first, and agile team culture to develop and operate cloud services at high scale, throughput, and resilience. Leads and implements design decisions to champion and incorporate scalability, cost optimization, and observability. Develops and maintains a comprehensive architecture and execution plan for the long term.
  • Creates clarity and leads the definition of priorities and planning of engineering deliverables. Demonstrates a dedication to achieving high quality results, in line with customer focus and project timelines. Tackles challenges posed by problems with unclear solutions, timelines, and constraints. Your resilience and resourcefulness will be key in driving the team towards innovative and impactful outcomes.
  • Facilitates alignment within and across all the partner teams on technology and design decisions. Fosters a culture of partnership, respect, and inclusion working within and across teams, roles, and geography.
  • Offers expert technical advice to the leadership team.
  • Mentors and grows other engineers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Applied experience in the practice of federated data governance in a global enterprise.
  • Broad understanding of enterprise architectural considerations pertinent to federated solutions.
  • Applied experience in building and operating federated enterprise data management solutions.
  • Applied experience in architecting and implementing clean solutions for complex integrations.
  • Experience in building and shipping production-grade, large-scale, fault-tolerant cloud services and distributed systems.
  • Experience in building AI/Copilot experiences in enterprise/commercial software.
  • Experience in full-stack development and testing.
  • Experience in navigating enterprise change management.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
