ResponsibilitiesThe Opportunity
The People Business Partner Director, Labor Leader will provide strategic direction and operational leadership for all labor‑related activities across PepsiCo Mexico Foods (PMF). This role is accountable for shaping and executing labor strategy, leading collective bargaining negotiations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and partnering closely with senior leadership to align workforce strategies with business and operational priorities.
As a key People leader within PMF, this role will serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives across Supply Chain, Sales, Legal, and People, influencing decisions that support business transformation, operational continuity, and long‑term organizational health.
Your Impact
As People Business Partner Director, PepsiCo Mexico Foods (PMF) Labor Lead your scope would consist of:
- Drive Labor Strategy & Organizational Effectiveness: Develop and execute a comprehensive labor strategy aligned with PMF business objectives, operational demands, and transformation priorities. Translate business needs into actionable labor solutions that enable productivity, stability, and growth.
- Collective Bargaining & Union Leadership: Lead collective bargaining negotiations, including development of proposals and counterproposals. Maintain productive, professional relationships with union leadership and labor representatives while ensuring flawless execution of agreements and minimal business disruption.
- Executive Partnership & Influence: Advise senior PMF leaders on labor trends, risks, workforce planning, and cost containment strategies. Communicate labor strategy, workforce changes, and performance insights to executive leadership and ExComm forums.
- Labor Operations & Compliance: Oversee labor operations across PMF plants and CEDIS, ensuring consistent application of labor standards, policies, and processes. Ensure full compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal governance requirements across all locations.
- Risk Management: Monitor legislative developments and labor reforms, assess organizational impact, and proactively mitigate risk. Lead compliance initiatives including audits, inspections, and actions to reduce litigation and labor-related exposure.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Supply Chain, Sales, Legal, and People teams to ensure alignment on labor priorities, workforce strategies, and operational execution.
- Capability Building: Build organizational capability in labor strategy, negotiations, and contract administration. Provide training and coaching to leaders and People teams on labor relations, compliance, and effective workforce management.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in labor relations, labor management, HR leadership, or workforce operations, including significant experience leading labor strategy and collective bargaining in complex, multi‑site environments.
- Proven experience working closely with senior Supply Chain and Sales leadership strongly preferred.
- Skills & Capabilities:
- Strategic & Results‑Driven: Demonstrated ability to link labor strategy to business outcomes, manage complexity, and lead through change in highly regulated and unionized environments.
- Leadership & Influence: Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and guide difficult conversations. Proven capability to lead negotiations and navigate high‑stakes labor situations.
- Labor & Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of Mexico’s labor legal framework, labor relations practices, and compliance requirements, with hands‑on experience managing labor conflicts and negotiations.
- Change & Risk Management: Skilled in anticipating labor risks, managing ambiguity, and supporting business transformation while maintaining operational continuity.
- Communication & Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust across unions, executives, and cross‑functional partners.
