ResponsibilitiesMain Purpose:
This role of the Market Supplier Officer (MSO) will be accountable for leading the full South Africa Procurement agenda across South Africa Operating unit and partner with the business as an active member of the South Africa OU leadership team.
The South Africa OU MSO main responsibilities will be to implement EMEA Procurement vision, mission and strategy in South Africa, plan and monitor South Africa procurement annual and long-term strategic targets, lead P&L Savings & Productivity initiatives, closely partner with market business stakeholders to download business short- and long-term needs of the region/ markets, align stakeholders on sector category decisions; facilitate achievements of Sector & Global Categories targets and goals within the SA markets, provide input to Category Leads on market demands and requirements; provide visibility to Category Leads on business strategies & priorities, support negotiations of important contracts as well as developments with key supplier, ensure supply security, ensure full compliance to GP Policies & Procedures, improve localization & BBBEE rating through preferential procurement), lead GP team to meet business Faster/Stronger/Better strategies and support the growth and innovation agenda, lead the people agenda (Recruit, develop) and lead the GP team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Implement EMEA wide Procurement vision, mission and strategy in the South Africa OU (in close collaboration with Head of GP EMEA and PepsiCo stakeholders in South Africa).
- Ensure business continuity through Supplier Relationship management, commodity Risk management, & supply security of needed materials (Packaging, Raw Material, Coman & Indirects including Logistics services (3PL) and MRO).
- Plan and monitor South Africa GP procurement annual and long-term strategic targets.
- Plan and monitor productivity objectives for GP procurement in South Africa (for the fiscal year).
- Lead improvement initiatives in procurement in South Africa.
- Support improvement initiatives from sector/ sector level (if relevant for South Africa).
- Select and prioritize strategic sourcing initiatives across categories in scope.
- Closely liaise with PepsiCo main region/ market business stakeholders; anticipate and synthesize short- and long-term needs of the region/ markets.
- Align stakeholders on sector category decisions; facilitate achievements of Sector & Global Categories targets and goals within the markets.
- Provide input to Category Leads on market demands and requirements; provide visibility to Category Leads on business strategies & priorities.
- Lead Procurement Strategy for all local categories.
- Strategically lead the development of purchasing contracts and agreements (ultimate responsibility for the contracts) for categories in scope of South Africa category teams.
- Support negotiations of important contracts as well as developments with key suppliers.
- Sell Procurement to business stakeholders; represent (on South Africa level) GP internally and externally; promote ideas of (a) segregation of strategic, tactical and operational procurement and (b) joint strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Identify requirements for change management and actively lead them.
- Recruit, develop and lead the South Africa GP team (in close collaboration with Head of GP EMEA ).
- Supervise and manage direct reports; plan, develop and mentor GP staff in South Africa.
- Ensure that PepsiCo South Africa purchases all products/ services at the most competitive prices/ best value.
- Ensure that best in class processes, procedures and tools for sourcing and request to purchase are implemented.
- Liaise with capability & governance leader to support sharing of best practices in EMEA .
- Align with GP EMEA to define, set and monitor GP compliance targets.
- Align with GP EMEA to define, design, implement and monitor parameters and main metrics for China ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of GP (in South Africa).
- Align with GP EMEA to define and implement principles/ selection criteria for supplier selection.
Key Skills/Experience:
Required:
- Experience of running a large procurement organization.
- Experience in procurement in a matrix Organization.
- Experience in building a regional procurement organization.
- Experience in strategically sourcing categories in scope.
- Be a recognized leader of change.
- International/ multinational procurement experience; Procurement experience in South Africa.
- Significant experience of direct line management.
- Skilled in managing across a dispersed team of business stakeholders; strong selling skills.
- Advanced degrees (Masters) preferred.
- Procurement professional (CIPS or equivalent).
- Multilingual a plus.
- Proven results delivering significant business change within a fast-paced cross functional matrix environment
- Very high level of business acumen - must be commercially & organizationally savvy and financially astute
- Outstanding communication skills, ability to influence at all levels and comfortable managing conflict
- Proven Sourcing, Procurement & SC project leadership/management skills
- Strong process thinker committed to driving process efficiency
- Capability builder - ability to build functional teams from scratch & empower diverse cross-functional project teams
- Deep operating knowledge of how to manage large scale suppliers
- Strong multitasking and project management skills
- Ability to analyse complex business scenarios, develop and evaluate actionable solutions and push through to completion and implementation
- Proven team member with ability to navigate and thrive in the matrix environment
- Degree qualified ideally with postgraduate in Procurement, Engineering, Commercial or Financial discipline, 10+ years post grad experience
- International/ multinational procurement experience
- Skilled in managing across a dispersed team of business stakeholders; strong selling skills
