Responsibilities

The Opportunity

The Technical Accounting Coordinator is responsible for leading the accurate application and execution of technical accounting matters related to leases, Capex projects with embedded lease components and implicit derivatives, ensuring compliance with IFRS and PepsiCo accounting policies. The role supports the integrity of financial reporting by overseeing complex accounting analyses, timely recording and reconciliation of transactions, and the preparation of technical documentation to support audit and control requirements.
The role partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders including Finance, Fixed Assets, Real state, Legal and Capex teams to assess accounting implications of commercial arrangements and business initiatives, providing clear guidance and technical expertise.

Your Impact

As Finance Sr Supervisor your responsibilities would consist of …

  • Lead technical accounting matters related to lease accounting and Capex projects, including assessment of lease components, embedded leases and implicit derivatives, ensuring accurate recognition and disclosures under IFRS, US GAAP and Mexican GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate period-end close execution, including recording, reconciliation and review of technical accounting entries impacting Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow.
  • Own technical accounting position papers and documentation to support accounting conclusions, internal controls, SIPRED requirements and external audit reviews.
  • Act as a key technical accounting advisor to cross-functional stakeholders (FP&A, Tax, Legal, Capex, Fixed Assets), providing clear guidance on accounting implications of commercial agreements and investments.
  • Coordinate and interact with external auditors, proactively addressing technical matters, audit requests and potential accounting risks.
  • Supervise and develop junior resources, ensuring quality, compliance with accounting standards and continuous strengthening of technical capabilities.
  • Identify, assess and escalate non-standard or complex transactions, partnering with management and regional/corporate accounting teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of technical accounting processes related to leases, Capex and statutory reporting.
Qualifications

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certification desirable.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise in IFRS, US GAAP and Mexican GAAP, with solid hands-on experience in lease accounting.
  • Proven experience assessing and accounting for lease transactions, including embedded leases and implicit derivatives within commercial and Capex contracts.
  • Solid background in Capex accounting, including judgment on capitalization criteria and financial statement impact.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing and analyzing quarterly and annual financial statements, including statutory reporting and period-end close.
  • Working knowledge of Mexican statutory requirements and SIPRED, coordinating with Tax and External Auditors.
  • Ability to interpret complex contractual terms and translate them into well-supported accounting treatments.
  • Experience working with ERP and consolidation/reporting systems (SAP, HFM).
  • Strong analytical skills with practical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience in Big4 audit or accounting advisory (preferred).
