The LD&T Transport Assoc Leader provides field support for our front-line drivers within the transport department. Leads safety and regulatory compliance across the transport department while providing private fleet management expertise. This leader will own common carrier procurement and execution in Urbandale. Responsibility for developing plans required to deliver service goals within Transportation/Logistics function. Coordination and execution of over $15 million in spend across multiple locations . Annual truckload volume > 15,000 shipments.
Responsibilities- Enhance our service to sales by delivering Ship to Schedule performance of 95%
- Lead the safety agenda for the department to include periodic safety reviews with your drivers that leads to a reduction in Lost Time Injuries, Vehicle Collisions, and accidents with third parties
- Deliver the productivity agenda for your location to include Procure with a Purpose, Minimize Miles, Perfect Payload, Power or One, and Future Fleet
- Conduct periodic carrier reviews to address service and execution
- Deliver a company fleet solution that is cost efficient and provides world class service and dependability
- Support employee onboarding, training, and development to include driver ACE conversations
- Conduct period financial reviews to ensure CPM remains competitive
- Drive Organizational Health improvement through quarterly round tables and action planning
- Minimize Out of Network sourcing moves by knowing your sourcing model and working with planning
- Ensure the right carrier mix to include private fleet, common carriers, and brokers to deliver your Procure with Purpose productivity
- Manage and define transportation solutions for complex/JIT shipments that will be required after hours, during holidays or on weekends
- Ensure route guide compliance through daily review of the win/loss report
- Lead with a controls mindset to ensure the location is operating with the right focus on tone, people, and strong ethics
- Identify, analyze, and manage risk through objective setting, process identification and risk assessment
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $66,900 - $111,950.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Transportation Management Systems Experience
- 1+ years transportation experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- SAP experience preferred
- Strong analytical and negotiating skills
- Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict
- Ability to lead and manage company a team of transport drivers
- Ability to travel when needed; less than 10%
