The candidate must have the technical prowess to write high-performing, scalable code, and well-designed, architected, and extensible features and platform functionality for internal and external consumption (Partners, ISVs). The candidate has a deep interest and ideal experience in broad software platforms, including platform information architecture, information flow, automation, and optimization to influence and drive product vision and roadmap. The candidate embodies a can-do approach backed by accomplishments. In addition, this candidate needs to be passionate about new cool technologies and stay current with a broad range of industry trends and developments.
Responsibilities and Impacts

  • Coordinates and drives the end-to-end architecture of the product
  • Crafts overall architectural principles, frameworks, and standards
  • Creates solutions that are enterprise-scalable and maintainable
  • Drive strategic technology initiatives, working with Product Managers, other Architects, Engineers, SMEs, and the broader Salesforce organization
  • Works in a consultative fashion to improve communication, teamwork, and alignment among teams inside and outside of the organization
  • Analyzes and provides feedback on product strategy
  • Partner with peers across Industries Cloud and Salesforce R&D in aligning and building out a unified long-term plan
  • Provides input into long-range product requirements, standard methodologies, and operational guidelines, with a focus on continuous improvement of platform reliability and serviceability
  • Deliver a compelling technical architecture & strategy
  • Identify and understand the development practices and infrastructure that make Salesforce successful
  • Drive execution of long-term plan taking into account performance, scalability, and usability of your solutions
  • Hands-on and lead by example by contributing high-quality, production code that powers critical pieces of our platform, services, and products
  • Ensures that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence

Required skills

  • Mastery of multiple programming languages and platforms
  • 18+ years of software development experience
  • Expertise in relational database systems and languages (Oracle, Postgres, SQL) and data modeling, sync/integration, and pipelines at scale
  • Ability to provide (informal) mentorship to team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development
  • Experience with Agile development methodology (e.g., Scrum)
  • Ability to work with other architects, principal architects, and Chief Technology Officers to craft the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization
  • Develops technical performance architecture that solves most complex performance issues
  • Ability to drive long-term design strategies that span multiple complex projects, deliver technical reports and performance presentations to customers and at industry events
  • Ability to build an environment for clear and open discussion of all issues You involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues
  • Experience in short release cycles, and the full software lifecycle. Some roles require experience with a product that was released for public consumption across multiple releases

Desired skills

  • Financial and Insurance domain knowledge
  • Experience with the Salesforce Platform Packaging (1GP and 2GP), SFDX, Apex, Lightning, Communities

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $210,800 to $355,900.Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
