What you’ll do
As a Senior Manager of Product Communications, you will be the day-to-day lead on Slack’s product communications program, working closely with cross-functional counterparts in marketing, product, engineering, and other teams to understand Slack’s product roadmap, and market positioning to develop communication plans based on business goals. You will be on the frontlines protecting Slack from risks, avoiding crises, and managing criticisms.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Communications.
Responsibilities
Craft clear narratives about our products, vision, and thought leadership in the industry
Develop and implement product launch strategies for product releases throughout the year, plus continue momentum in between product moments
Draft written materials including messaging, media statements, communications plans, blog posts, bylines, FAQs, social posts, and other collateral
Advise, support, and drive alignment with product, marketing, and executive leaders
Build strong relationships with technology and business press, key industry opinion leaders, and external stakeholders
Manager thought leadership programs for several executives
Collaborate with product and corporate marketing to ensure message consistency across marketing and communications initiatives
Partner closely with our Salesforce colleagues to tell stories of the power of Slack + Salesforce, especially at Salesforce events like Dreamforce
Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and market insights to identify opportunities and proactively address potential reputation risks
Manage security and incident comms related to product including drafting reactive statements and coordinating across customer experience, security, and product teams in collaboration with Salesforce
Manage an agency team that supports product comms
What you should have
8+ years of experience in communications or public relations with an expertise in product comms; agency and in-house enterprise software/technology communications preferred
Experience successfully mitigating PR risks related to product security and incidents
Passion for storytelling and an ability to elevate a product narrative
History of building productive working relationships across an organization
Ability to strategically and creatively think in a fast-paced environment
Strong executive presence; ability to hold a “seat at the table” alongside other areas of the business
Flexible: able to juggle multiple responsibilities at once and unphased by change whenever it happens (“cool as a cucumber”, as they say)
HIghly skilled, open and effective written and verbal communicator
A self-starter, able to initiate and run with projects
Values authenticity, a growth mindset, creativity, and playfulness
