Team Overview

The Office of Ethical and Humane Use (OEHU) guides the responsible design, development, and use of Salesforce technologies. The Policy team develops and manages the policy guardrails across the company’s suite of product offerings, including Artificial Intelligence, and helps ensure the use of Salesforce products respects human rights.

Role Overview

OEHU Policy Team is seeking a Product Policy Manager, Special Projects, to work together with the VP of Ethical Use policy, the Chief Ethical & Humane Use Officer, and the entire Office of Ethical & Humane Use, to provide critical research, analysis, and support to address high-priority, complex issues related to product policy and operations. This role serves as a key resource for senior leaders, gathering and synthesizing information from various sources, conducting in-depth analysis, developing written materials and presentations to inform strategic decision-making and support strategic internal and external communication. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and research skills, excellent writing and communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate ambiguous and rapidly evolving situations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a central point of contact and coordination for escalated issues, incidents, and special projects related to product policy, operations and communications.

  • Assess the scope and impact of complex issues, gather relevant information from stakeholders, and develop comprehensive response strategies.

  • Collaborate with legal, public policy, communications, and other teams to manage risks, ensure compliance, and craft appropriate messaging and external communications.

  • Maintain detailed documentation, prepare reports, and present findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders.

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on complex policy issues, market trends, and industry best practices to support strategic decision-making.

  • Synthesize information from various sources, including internal data, external research, and subject matter experts, to provide comprehensive insights and recommendations.

  • Develop clear and compelling written materials, such as briefing documents, policy analyses, and strategy papers, to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to senior leaders.

  • Create high-quality presentations and decks to support meetings, executive reviews, and strategic discussions on policy-related topics.

  • Support senior leaders in preparing for important meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes by providing relevant background information, data analysis, and talking points.

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, industry trends, and best practices related to product policy and operations.

  • Support Vice President, Ethical Use Policy on team management tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years experience in product policy, public policy, operations, legal, communications, project management, or related fields.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.

  • Deep understanding of product policies, operations, and relevant laws and regulations.

  • Experience in risk management, crisis response, and issue escalation processes.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.

  • Experience providing decision support and advice to leadership.

  • Highly organized with experience thriving in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios.

Preferred

  • Fluency in languages in addition to English (particularly French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese) and regional expertise is a plus.

  • Experience dealing with sensitive content, including CSAM and extremist/violent activity.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $165,600 to $227,700.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
