About the team

The Global Cloud Infrastructure & Delivery (GCID) organization is responsible for operations of the internal as well as customer facing data centers and services like storage, compute, backup and network. The GCID – Network Delivery unit, as part of GCID, supports the company’s global network infrastructure, including the local area network and connectivity.

SAP GCID – PlusOne Cloud Network Delivery – Customer Connectivity team is looking for an experienced Technical Network Service Engineer to support our various security products/services (Connectivity (VPN/MPLS/BGP), Switching & Routing). The Technical Network Service Engineer will manage an assigned group of cloud landscapes, as we refer to as platform area and including public/private cloud. The position will also interface with peers (storage, compute, and backup teams), external customers, consulting or driving project related to the service. Involve in major and complex operation outage(s) to bringing resolution to all manners with a high sense of urgency for technological issues for our customers. As well as, participate in our Change Technical Validation Process, validating that all technical proposals that are requested are reviewed with sharp diligent oversight.

What you'll do:

  • Supporting IPSec VPN, Complex Dynamic Routing, & VXLAN Products across platform areas

  • Participate On-Call Rotation with good verbal and written skills.

  • Change Technical Validation Expert: Review Playbook/Runbook that was developed by the operations engineer and ensuring infrastructure availability and identifying possible risk.

  • Solution Design: Involve in sessions with operations engineer(s) on mapping request to existing service delivery. if not found, work on developing a solution with the platform engineering.

  • Incident Management: Drive major/complex outage(s) to resolution.

  • Service Delivery: Closely with the customer to translate their requirements into technical solutions and execute towards it.

  • Manage Service: Interface with Manage Service Provider as a Governance and Consultant Role

  • Collaboration: closely work with various business units and sister/brother departments (e.g. storage and virtualization teams.)

  • Ensure compliance of network infrastructure to global standards.

  • Ensure global alignment across the regional delivery teams.

  • Develop and maintain tools for automation of network device configurations and deployments.

  • Working in Shifts APJ, EMEA, or AMER

About Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering or equivalent.]

What you bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite: preferably in switching/routing as core competence however additional disciplines such as, load balancing & security are welcome.

  • Good understanding of virtualization and SDN/OpenStack technologies like VLAN, VxLAN, VRF, etc.

  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g. Ansible, Python, Java, Perl)

  • High understanding of Hyperscalers, Cloud computing, SaaS, & hosted systems

  • Expert abilities in developing and documenting network designs and concepts

  • Basic Project Management Experience

  • Flexible, self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced and multicultural organization.

  • Flexibility to work on a schedule that is convenient for our customers.

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving

  • Fluent in spoken and written English is prerequisite

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred skills:

  • 5+ years of work experience in the networking field
  • Certificates in the industry of the respective technology (Routing: CCNP-R&S, etc..)

  • Knowledge of OSPF/BGP, VXVLAN IPv4, IPV6, VLAN, VRRP, VARP, HSRP.

  • Experience with different VPN implementations and security parameters.

  • Experience with leading Firewall platforms (Cisco, Forinet, Arista,Palo alto Network)

  • Experience with Load balancer platforms.

  • Experience with Storage and Compute as part of Infrastructure ecosystems is plus

  • Tools experiences like Specturm, Netbrain, HPNA, AWX and CVP.

  • Basic Financial Understanding (OPEX & CAPEX)

  • Experience in Service ownership / Coordination is a plus

  • Experience with Public Cloud offerings is a plus

  • IaC Understanding and able to work in eco-system

  • Adaptable to Shift Model
