What you’ll do

As a Senior C++ Developer you will work on the SAP HANA Cloud Database Plugin Engine. HANA Cloud Plugins – Application Function Libraries AFLs and others – are application extensions to the SAP HANA Database. The plugin engine controls the loading of and the access for example via database procedures to these add-ons. You will develop new features and in case of issues, will search for the root cause of failures and provide solutions.

The procedures we offer are invoked by SQL, ABAP, or Python with respective optimizations for these languages. Hence, respective testing is mandatory and requires knowledge of these languages.

You will collaborate with your team and work together with developers from other teams.

Beside coding, you consult application teams. Based on your experience as a senior developer, you will be in contact with colleagues in several countries and guide them in the development of plugins.

What you bring

• At least 5 years’ proven experience in modern C++, SQL and ABAP programming
• Solid understanding of scripting languages – in particular Python.
• In-depth experience with database fundamentals like SQL, procedures, transactions and database internals like data/metadata handling – in particular HANA In-Memory DB
• Several years in software development also in independently defining and driving software projects
• Preferably experience with Linux and system programming
• Experience with and understanding of the HANA Application Function Library and it’s concepts as a strong plus.
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics
• Fluency both written and spoken in German and English

Meet your team

The HANA Plugins Core team is a small team located in Walldorf but supports plugin teams all around the globe. We embed application algorithms into execution mechanisms offered by HANA. Therefore we collaborate with teams responsible for other layers of the HANA kernel which are involved into these mechanisms as well. Further, we collect feature requirements of application teams programming plugins and align them with the plugin engine’s possibilities. We work close together with the HANA Plugin Infrastructure teams which is responsible for the deployment of plugins.
