Internship topic: Enhancing Component Creation in Simcenter Amesim Using LLMs
Your Mission
At Siemens Digital Industries Software, we’re at the forefront of empowering engineers and industries worldwide with innovative technologies. Our portfolio includes innovative tools like Simcenter Amesim, a leading software solution for multi-physics system simulation.
With Simcenter Amesim, users can build comprehensive system models demonstrating pre-built libraries of components. For sophisticated users, Ameset allows the creation of custom components. However, this process can be challenging due to its complexity. That’s why we are exploring the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) to simplify and improve the component creation process, driving innovation and usability.
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Intern in Artificial Intelligence and System Simulation to join our team. As an intern, you will work on using LLMs to streamline the creation of components in Simcenter Amesim. This is an excellent opportunity for students with a passion for AI, engineering simulation, and software development to contribute to real-world innovations.
In this context
- Collaborate with our engineering and software teams to understand the challenges and requirements in the component creation process within Amesim.
- Research and experiment with Large Language Models (e.g., OpenAI, GPT-based systems) to develop prototypes or solutions aimed at simplifying the component development workflow.
- Design, implement, and test a user-friendly interface or tools that integrate LLMs with Amesim's existing functionalities.
- Analyse and document the effectiveness and limitations of LLM-driven solutions for enhancing Amesim's component creation process.
- Provide recommendations for further development or deployment based on your findings.
This 6-month internship is based in Lyon (69) and is available from February 2025.
Keys to success
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts with experience in using or experimenting with Large Language Models.
- Familiarity with system simulation software or multi-physics modelling tools (experience with Simcenter Amesim is a plus).
- Programming skills in Python or other relevant languages (knowledge of API integration is advantageous).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Your interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English enable effective collaboration within the team.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of system modelling, control systems, or component-based modelling.
- Interest in human-computer interaction (HCI) and user interface design.
- Exposure to software development tools and best practices (e.g., version control, agile methodologies).
A covering letter is required for this position.
