We are currently seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to join Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) unit and foster the accelerated journey of Software AG to the Cloud. CPE unit is developing and maintaining Software AG's Cloud Platform. Our platform is designed to integrate GitOps Practices, ensuring easy and repeatable deployment, monitoring, and logging of all Cloud solutions. Additionally, we prioritize security scanning and vulnerability checks and have a disaster recovery system in place. We offer an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the growth and success of our organization.

The Lead DevOps Engineer reports directly to VP of Cloud Platform Engineering and has significant impact on technical vision and direction of the unit, together with the architecture team and the management.

As a Lead DevOps Engineer:

  • You will facilitate our most impactful architecture, language, framework, and component decisions.

  • You will proactively dive into teams or projects that need boosting, guidance, and capacity.

  • You will pioneer projects balancing strategic importance to the business and long term importance to our technical foundations.

We expect:

  • You are known inside and outside the engineering organization as a master of technologies.

  • You are able to represent the engineering organization to the outside world.

  • You are an authority in multiple technical disciplines, languages, frameworks, and systems and more importantly - you are eager to master new ones.

  • You demonstrate a unique and extraordinarily effective problem solving perspective and approach.

  • You are capable of developing entirely new implementations of industry solutions, frameworks, libraries, services, Cloud infrastructure, etc.

  • You are an evangelist for the engineering organization and the work we do in the interest of helping us hire/retain fantastic engineering talent.

  • You are a key member and decision-maker in the engineering leadership team. Your opinion will carry significant strategic weight.

  • You are fluent in English.

Required technology related expertise:

  • Kubernetes or similar.

  • Python, Go or similar.

  • Knowledge of the services of AWS and Azure.

  • Terraform or similar technologies.
