The Director of Engineering for a Generative AI-powered product in the SaaS integration space would have a multifaceted role, combining technical, strategic, managerial, and product understanding to drive the engineering efforts. Job Title: Director of Engineering – Generative AI and SaaS Integration
Role Objective: To lead and oversee the development of state-of-the-art Generative AI systems tailored for seamless SaaS integrations, ensuring product excellence, scalability, and security.
- Set the technical vision and strategy for the AI and SaaS integration products.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Generative AI, SaaS integrations, and relevant technologies.
- Promote and cultivate best practices in software engineering, AI ethics, data management, and system architectures.
Team Development and Management
- Lead, mentor, and expand a team of AI scientists, software engineers, data specialists, and integration experts.
- Ensure the professional development and upskilling of team members.
- Foster an innovative and inclusive team environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and customer success teams to ensure the product meets user needs and market demands.
- Oversee the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch to optimization.
- Ensure products are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
- Collaborate with the C-suite, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to align on company goals and product strategy.
- Provide regular updates on engineering efforts, challenges, and achievements.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Implement agile methodologies and ensure rapid iteration and continuous deployment.
- Oversee quality assurance, testing, and system robustness.
- Manage and optimize budgets related to technology investments, cloud resources, and team expansion.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure that AI solutions and integrations uphold the highest standards of data security and privacy.
- Stay informed on compliance requirements specific to the SaaS and AI space, and ensure products adhere to these standards.
Vendor and Partnership Management
- Evaluate and select third-party services and platforms for integration.
- Foster relationships with key vendors, research institutions, and industry players.
- A passion for AI, SaaS, and disrupting the industry.
- Proven experience in leading tech teams, but still loves to get their hands dirty.
- Familiarity with the SaaS ecosystem, integration patterns, and best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and growing engineering teams.
- Proficient in software development methodologies, cloud platforms, and system architectures.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
