Job Posting: IBM Z Evangelist
About the Role
We are looking for an IBM Z Evangelist to own and drive our company’s participation in the IBM Partner Plus and IBM Z & LinuxONE On‑premises Development (zOPD) Programs. It is a strategic advocacy, coordination, and market-facing position that connects internal technical teams with IBM, the marketplace and the broader IBM Z ecosystem.
You will play a crucial role in evangelizing, promoting and advocating for the IBM Z platform as well as ensuring that our technical achievements, IBM partnership, and customer successes are well-articulated and visible in the marketplace. Your responsibilities include building awareness, fostering education, and driving enthusiasm for IBM Z internally and in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Thought Leadership
- Be the voice of the company’s commitment to IBM Z, advocating its value to customers and the marketplace.
- Collaborate with marketing to create and amplify blogs, articles, customer success stories, social posts, and website content (including a dedicated landing page for IBM Z & LinuxONE)
- Educate and guide internal team members to contribute to advocacy activities.
- Ensure messaging aligns with IBM Z modernization and long-term platform value
Community & Event Presence
- Represent the company at IBM and industry events (e.g., IBM TechXchange, THINK, SHARE, GSE)
- Coordinate speaker submissions, abstracts, and advocacy activities
- Participate in user groups, forums, and community discussions
IBM zOPD Program Management
- Own and manage the company’s participation in the IBM Z and LinuxONE On‑premises Development (zOPD) and Partner Plus Programs
- Define and track quarterly and annual advocacy goals aligned with program objectives
- Earn IBM Z Advocacy Badges and guide & support employees to apply and earn badges as required
- Maintain documentation, reporting, and evidence required for zOPD Ready, Advanced, and Premier tiers
Internal Coordination & Enablement
- Gather technical input, success stories, demos, and use cases from engineering and product teams
- Translate internal achievements into advocacy-ready material
- Run internal briefings and enablement sessions explaining advocacy opportunities and badge paths
- Act as the internal “advocacy hub” connecting engineering, product, marketing, and leadership
Product Collaboration
- Collect structured feedback from internal teams and customers for IBM Z & LinuxONE product teams
- Participate in IBM councils, surveys, and beta-related advocacy activities
- Share IBM ecosystem insights internally
- Share knowledge and influence the company product roadmap for z/OS by collaborating with Product Management and R&D
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with IBM, IBM Z, LinuxONE, or enterprise platform ecosystems
- Strong communication and storytelling skills (written and verbal)
- Experience coordinating across technical, marketing, and business teams
- Comfortable representing a company externally in professional communities
- Proven ability to organize programs, track goals, and deliver outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an IBM Advocate, IBM Champion, or in developer/technical advocacy
- Familiarity with IBM Z or mainframe modernization concepts (no deep engineering required)
- Background in partner management, product marketing, or ecosystem programs

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $173,000.
This position is also eligible for a 15% discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents and award agreements.
