We’re seeking a Golang Software Engineer II to join the Workforce Management product team - Zendesk’s AI-powered solution for forecasting, scheduling, and agent performance tracking. In this role you’ll design and deliver scalable backend systems that power features used by thousands of customers and millions of end users, helping organizations optimize workforce efficiency through reliable, data-driven automation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services in Go that support Workforce Management features and customer-facing functionality.

  • Deliver end-to-end features: participate in discovery, estimate work, implement changes, write tests, and support releases to production.

  • Collaborate with product managers, SREs, QA, and other engineers to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions.

  • Write clear, well-tested code and give/receive constructive code reviews to raise team quality and shared knowledge.

  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, improve observability, and contribute to incident response and postmortems.

  • Help identify and tackle technical debt by proposing practical improvements and breaking work into manageable tasks.

  • Contribute to team practices around CI/CD, testing, and monitoring to improve deployment safety and operational reliability.

What you bring to the role

  • 2+ years professional software engineering experience, with 1+ year building backend services in Go (Golang) in production.

  • Solid understanding of REST API design, microservice patterns, and service-to-service integrations.

  • Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and writing efficient queries.

  • Comfortable working with containers (Docker) and familiar with cloud environments (AWS preferred).

  • Familiarity with basic distributed systems concepts (timeouts/retries, idempotency, backpressure) and automated testing practices.

  • Good debugging and troubleshooting skills, with an attention to performance and reliability.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; a team player who shares knowledge and supports continuous improvement.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with PHP/Laravel or in polyglot service environments.

  • Exposure to event-driven systems and messaging platforms (Kafka or similar).

  • Familiarity with observability and error-tracking tools (Datadog, Sentry) and basic SLO/SLI concepts.

  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Prior experience in Workforce Management, scheduling, or forecasting domains is a plus.

The Poland annualized base salary range for this position is zł179,000.00-zł269,000.00. Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
