Who You Are and What You'll Do

The Senior Manager – Technical Project Leader, Health & Wellbeing will be responsible for developing the best-in-class products to support the growth ambition for the Health & Wellbeing Collective – specifically in relation to new product development and new market entry and the establishment of an external ecosystem technical partners/capabilities. The role will have heavy cross functional interactions and coordination across Marketing, Supply chain, SEAC, Quality, Regulatory and external Contract labs & Raw material suppliers to ensure timely delivery of the objectives.

The role will be required to act as a Technical Project lead, provide expertise related to formulation development and would cover a broad range of challenges –design consumer preferred robust formulas, scaling up by leveraging external Contract labs and Collaborative manufacturers. This position will also serve as an R&D representative on cross-functional, global teams and drive technical decision making.

  • Lead a team of highly motivated product development scientists.

  • Acts as a Technical Project Lead on Project teams and lead the product development related activities with broad technical understanding of other disciplines.

  • Partner with Commercial, Regulatory, Supply chain, Quality, to ensure flawless execution of all aspects of the product development, define and estimate project resource requirements, budget requirement etc. and proactively identify the technical risks, recommendations to mitigate risks and bring it to management.

  • Ensure the project technical assessment and suggested path forward represents and covers all the requirements suggested by safety, claims, analytical and regulatory experts.

  • Work with Brand Managers and CTI to understand Brand Performance Standards (BPS) and translate the same into technical targets against which superior products can be designed (performance & attributes), developed and measured.

  • Work collaboratively with technical team of the H&W Collective companies and exchange the learnings.

  • Identify and work collaboratively with contract laboratories to outsource activities related to Product Development, Analytical and Stability.

  • Drafts, reviews, and sets the Formulation cards, Manufacturing instructions, Raw material & Finished product specifications for Global developments. Works closely with stability team to design stability protocols.

  • Partners with Supply chain and quality to assist in technical assessments of contract manufacturing sites.

  • Coach and Mentor junior members in the team.

  • Maintains awareness of scientific literature to assist work progression and understanding. Trains self and others in new technology

  • Establish the product development related SOPs and guidance documents.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required in science or engineering. Master’s degree/PHD would be preferred.

  • BS with 10+ years 2. Masters with 7+ years 3. PhD with 5+ years’ experience in formulation development or technology development of which at least 3 years as Technical Project Lead.

  • Excellent understanding of Product development Principles – formulation development for consumer-friendly ingestible dosage forms such as Powders, Gummies/ capsules, sugar replacement/reduction, material understanding, product scale up, product costing, ingredient sources and GMP. (Dietary supplement experience would be preferred)

  • Experience working with cross functional teams across geographies

  • Ability to lead more complex portfolio of innovation/quality & Value Improvement Project (VIP) projects including multiple brands/regions/ technologies

  • Technical leadership by exhibiting and fostering initiative, motivation, judgment, flexibility, and breadth.

  • Resource planning and budgeting

  • Problem-solving ability using innovative thought and good scientific judgment

  • Ability to lead projects with multiple external parties including contractors, research partners, manufacturing facilities, etc.

  • Project Management skills and proven ability to handle multiple priorities in an ever-changing business environment.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $110,700 to $166,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
