Job Title: QA Technician

Location: Gloucester Factory


JOB PURPOSE

To drive standards in production by addressing, escalating, and following up with non-conformances. Coaching operators and shift leaders in quality standards and holding staff accountable. To have continuous awareness of the quality issues affecting production on shift, from raw materials through to cold storage, and to liaise with Shift Leaders and QA Department personnel to prevent the manufacture of non-conforming products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Routine line inspections in their bays to carry out documentation checks.
  • Verifications of quality methods such as metal detection tests.
  • Performing a product quality check to ensure products are of an acceptable quality per line and meet specifications.
  • Conducting engagement quality sessions with operators based on quality standards and procedures.
  • Attending Quality and Operation Meetings providing valuable feedback on quality standards
  • Collect product samples according to requirements (retention samples/lab)
  • First contact during quality incidents on production line, part of incident investigations, assistance in raising quality non-conformity/defects in designated quality system. Coaching operators on the correct quality processes and standards.
  • Food safety, foreign matter, and hygiene inspections
  • Processing plant quality checks inspections​.
  • Bringing technical expertise and capacity for applying quality techniques to understand quality issues and to implement improvements.
  • Implementing changes to deliver compliance to standards or to drive improved quality performance.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Relevant experience in Quality Assurance and food safety, preferably from FMCG
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Good understanding on HACCP Principles
  • Dynamic individual who is prepared to take responsibility for line issues leading to resolutions.
  • Energy – The ability to create and maintain a high level of appropriately directed activity, capacity to work hard, drive and stamina.
  • Commitment-Belief in own job and its value to the organisation, makes extra effort for the Company.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Decisiveness –does not jump to conclusions and seeks a variety of solutions, analyses for best fit. Able and willing to make decisions.
  • Initiative – Actively influencing events rather than passively accepting. Seizes opportunities when they arise and act on them. Originates action.
  • Leadership – the ability to motivate people to achieve quality objectives and coach them to improve.
  • Logical problem solver

  • Ability to look longer term beyond the issues of the day, to spot trends and turn them into making long-term plans.
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Confident to hold team members accountable for delivery.
