Job Title: Pilot Plant R&D Officer

Location: Unilever R&D Bangalore

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pilot Plant R&D Officer to support the execution of pilot-scale operations for Personal Care product development. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in Automation, R&D/ factory operations, machine handling and preventive maintenance, inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage raw material (RM) ordering, inventory control, and logistics for pilot trials

  • Support re-processing of semi-finished and finished goods

  • Handle labelling, coding, packing, and dispatch of samples

  • Execute pilot plant batches and support end-to-end lab and plant processes

  • Operate and maintain personal care product machinery (e.g., mixers, plodders, conveyors)

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Perform root cause analysis (e.g., 5W1H, Why-Why analysis) for equipment failures

  • Ensure adherence to GMP, ISO, FWS, and safety protocols

  • Maintain machine history cards and coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules

  • Participate in 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives

  • Prepare and maintain SOPs, MIS reports, and trial documentation

  • Support internal audits, gap analysis, and compliance activities

  • Train team members on safety, operations, and maintenance procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor’s degree in science or Technical Diploma/ (Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 1 to 2 years in R&D Pilot Plants/factory operations

    • Hands-on experience Inventory management, Operations of Plodders, Mixers, Conveyor, Stamping, Tripple Roll Miller etc

  • Technical Skills:

    • Knowledge of LOTO, work permit systems, and safety standards

    • Familiarity with SAP, MS Office, and operational systems

    • Trained in fire safety and first aid

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong communication and documentation skills

    • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
