Your day to day:

As a Network Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for design related to the network infrastructure in our Data Centre including decision on technology to be used, capacity planning and requirements gathering from the customers matching key network aspects such security, reliability, high availability, load balancing and redundancy.; evolve legacy setups to new and standard network designs and components mitigating possible operational risk generated by out of support network infrastructure.

You will have the opportunity to work with innovative technologies like: xSTP, vPC, FabricPath, OSPFv2/v3, BGP/MP-BGP, VXLAN/EVPN, Load Balancers, Security Appliances (traffic filtering), (all kinds of) NAT, IPv6.

Although we are speaking about a design/architecture role, you will have access to all the systems and networking equipment (via CLI, GUI, etc.) to help you understand the network in the proper way (hands-on). We know it is always nice to be able to confirm your assumptions by looking directly into the LIVE network.

Our Data Centers are big, and we are hosting critical systems and applications there, bringing to life all kinds of Vodafone solutions and services across Europe – we think this is BIG and exciting, an environment which inherently will participate into your development.

With these activities you will have a great impact on our business:

Provide solution design for Vodafone Local Market services to achieve highest availability, service performance as well as scalability of designed solution
Migration planning and design to evolve legacy network environments into new network components and services
Outline global network design standards to maximize efficiency and standardization across all the local market services
Collaborate with other stakeholders like Operational team, on-prem Data Center teams and other risk owners during the scoping of design policies, optimization initiatives and projects
Capacity planning and engineering
Solution owner and definition of network standards, solutions and building blocks.

With these skills you are a great candidate:

In-depth knowledge of OSPF, BGP, load balancing.
Knowledge about firewall systems and network protocols.
University degree in technology [e.g., engineering, telecommunications, computer science]
Fluency in English, both speaking and writing
Professional certified (e.g. CCNA, CCNP) is an advantage
